Captain Eddie Rickenbacker scored 21 of his 26 victories in the Spad. Powered by a 220 hp Hispano-Suiza, the plane could cruise for two hours and attain speeds of nearly 130 mph. It was a colorful, if not formidable fighter with the AEF. It continued in service for some years after the war.
