| 18" x 40' The "Memphis Belle" of the 324th BS assumed its place in history in May, 1943 as the first B-17 Flying Fortress to have completed 25 missions. Both the plane and crew returned to the States for a grand tour to promote the War Effort and the sale of War Bonds. The plane's name became title of a Hollywood movie that may still be viewed by those insomniacs with access to obscure TV channels. Aircraft Nose Art is a record of unique folk art inspired by the air combat spirit of WWII and Korean war. Though some crude and lewd, the ideas for nose art came from many sources and still lives on today in our colorful collection of the most popular Nose Art WWII ever produced. Reproduced on .050 and .032in. aircraft grade aluminum, our panels represent the most decorated Aces and honored squadrons in all theaters of WWII. Through extensive research, the original artist's rendition is authentically re-created, including squadron colors and code markings incorporated within the design of the panel. All panels are individually hand painted with oil based paints including FS, RLM and British basecoats of the era. On some multi-piece panels there are over 200 rivets in them or contain working access panels! Each finished panel is an eye catching momento of history's most colorful fighting aircraft and is an attractive and fascinating addition to any room or commercial space. Our reproduction Nose Art panels are as close as you can get to owning a piece of aircraft antiquity. Each panel has mounting fixtures on the back so they can easily be displayed on any wall. Relive a proud era of American aviation and military history with Velasco Enterprises Fighting Colors Collection! |
