The "Memphis Belle" of the 324th BS assumed its place in history in May, 1943 as the first B-17 Flying Fortress to have completed 25 missions. Both the plane and crew returned to the States for a grand tour to promote the War Effort and the sale of War Bonds. The plane's name became title of a Hollywood movie that may still be viewed by those insomniacs with access to obscure TV channels.
