The TBF Avenger was a nearly indestructible aircraft that fought in the battles of Midway, Coral Sea and many more. It was to become the standard torpedo bomber for the Navy throughout the entire War, and for 15 years thereafter. It could carry one large torpedo or 2,000 lbs. of bombs and fly in a range of 1,100 miles. Pictured is the model as it appeared in the Battle of Midway.
